I can get you perfectly quartered neck blanks in 3.75 X3.75 squares for 90 each out of my stock. I bought a bunch of them. They are air dried 5 years.

If you aren't adverse to a scarf joint neck and stacked heel....

You could head on over to your local woodworking store and buy a piece of Mahogany.... Usual prices range from $7-$15/bd-ft... A normal neck takes about 1 board foot worth of 3" wide stock......

If you are doing a bolt-on neck... neck and tail block material is a whole lot easier... You can almost literally use anything your heart desires or that you could scrounge out from Home store spruce and poplar to cabinet plywood to Mahogany and other exotic and domestic hardwoods...

Thanks

A good hardwood dealer will have 12/4 Mahogany for around $15/bf but you will have to sort through it to find a piece with good grain and acceptable runout. Then you will need to saw it & wait for it to settle or you could buy a seasoned neck billet for a reputable luthier supplier and pay the going rate.

If you are willing to go to the extra trouble or want to laminate your neck, you can buy flat sawn 8/4 lumber, rip it down the center, and glue the two pieces so that you wind up with basically a quartered blank. I can find flat sawn H. Mahogany at my local lumber yard much easier than I can find somewhat quarter sawn wood.
