I finished up the bracing on the back of my zebrawood dread. Finally bought my Bosch colt router so hoping to glue the back on this week. May start carving out my first neck this week.

Todd, wanted to try the "rubber-band" bind like you show. The question I have is where do you get the rubber bands and what size?

I finished laminating my solid linings and am starting to glue them to my laminated sides. Lot's of laminating. For the gluing, I use Pro-Glue Veneer Bond Dry Resin.

Working to complete the finish on my #100 and starting a refurbishment of #34, built in 1989.

I finished the Shamisen repair. I'm not a real fan of the calfskin since it just doesn't look as nice as I would like. Also, even though I stretched it just to the point of tearing, the final product still taps about 2 steps lower than the original on the other side. But the customer wanted calfskin and he is happy. The player used it in rehearsal last night and it sounds like it is supposed to so I am happy. Now what do I do with all of these clamps

Congrats on making 100! Polishing is something I have to look forward to within the next week or so. I'm in the end stages of a spruce/mahogany short scale Manzer wedge mini-dread (like a wide waist OM). Adding one more inlay before I move on to final sanding. Unfortunately, I seem to have misplaced one of 4 packs of different sized MOP dots that will be involved in it... so I'm cleaning and reorganizing right now while I look for it.

I wanted to get this one closed up, but things got a little busy at home and I didn't get a chance.

Khaya mahogany, Sinker cedar SB will go with it.

I finally was able to start work on the tele again. I got my neck template made and routed my neck pocket. The neck pocket needs work because I didn't spend enough time on my jig. I'll wait until I get my neck made, then I'll clean up the pocket. Since I'm making my own bridge, I'll wait to get it mounted until I have my neck attached. That way if I have to move it forward or back a few mm's, I'll have that flexibility.

Working a bit more on the Purple heart Build . I have heard the stories about this turning brown over time . So I got purple and cherry red dies and mixed up a batch that was as close to the orig color as possible and I stained the wood. Will this keep it that color ? Hope so !



I also Died the " Padauk " inlays that I am in the running for Doofus of the month contest and they came out fairly close .




I have also been working on my Arrowhead Headstock , as you can see below it is angled from center out and I have sanded each side so there is a raised spot in the center that goes back to the nut.

Hello. I ran into a neighbour that was cutting down an ash tree (fraxinus pennsilvanya) so i offer to give a hand in exchange of the log.
its not too big about 30cm on the base and 170 cm long, but ill find it useful for a future electric build.

Among many other things I have been working quite a bit on this guitar, which is almost done! A few more details to work on and I can get it started being finished. I have been thinking about many of these details for a long time and I am happy to finally being able to see them in place. So far they are all that I expected.

I started my scrap wood uke on wednesday, and just started finishing the box. I should have the neck ready for finish tomorrow.

Nice work, guys. It's all inspiring, but, Burton, your beveled cutaway is just killing me! I wish I had something worthy to post. I am currently working on an outboard face plate (shop made) for my lathe, onto which I will mount a Longworth chuck (also shop made) for the ultimate purpose of turning a tenor banjo rim. I know, I know....why a tenor banjo? Everyone asks me that. Well, two reasons: First, I can tune it in the "Chicago" style and play the chords I already know on some of the old jazz tunes my band plays. It'll be a double for me. Second, I've never built one before, so why not? That's as good a reason as I need to do a thing like this. I'm not building for a market. I just build for me.

Working on inlaying headstock of a concert uke, and odds and ends on a tenor uke. The OM on the bench is on hold until the ukes are finished in about 2 weeks.

this is the Ash log i got from a neighbour. it will become electric guitar bodies some day.
i cut it right on the "spine" and gave it a good thickness, about 6,5cm so i can clean of the face with the center in the future.
there is some kind of fungi showing on a couple of boards, they look nice..
