I'm working on a guitar that I'm french polishing. Today, for the first time, I noticed tiny, tiny white specks in the finish
of the cedar top. There are no such specks on the cocobolo back or sides.

At first I thought that the cotton rag I have been using had shed, but since there are no specks on the back or sides I think
that's ruled out.

Any ideas?

It's been in the mid 80s with the RH in the mid 30s so I don't believe the problem is humidity related.

Are the white specs In the finish or in the cedar?
If in the cedar it is probably mineral deposits.
If in the finish then some kind of contamination > filter your shellac.
