I can't find in the archives where how you make your radial purflings? I'm wondering after looking at last week's post if I'm doing them correctly? How thick? I'm glueing 1/8" edge grain together then in a case of a rosette I'm sanding the miters to make the turn?? How do you do yours? Also, if using edge grain would rift sawn look too wierd? Clinton

I give a description of how I make mine here. Some install them like pearl- snapping them in. Hope this helps.

Here's how I did mine. I had a piece of Zebrawood about a foot long and 5 or 6" wide by about 1 thick. I cut it cross grain and glued the sticks end to end.

Next I glued a dark/light pair (EIR/Maple) to the edge I was going to cut first.

Then I cut the strip.

Then I glued another dark/light pair to the other side after thicknessing carefully, and cut it into strips.

After cutting and cleaning up, the sticks bent very well. Here is a rosette using the bent radial sticks.

Actually, mine is side grain, not end grain. The veneer pairs are glued to end grain.

Thanks! I'll try that. I never would of thought those would bend tight enough to around a rosette. That's what I get for assuming. Clinton
