I have an ongoing...and ongoing...and ongoing order with Ameritage for three cases so I'd like to know of other more local suppliers and whether or not people have had good experiences with other suppliers. Ameritage quality and prices are terrific presumably because they are made in Costa Rica but after four seperate inquiries regarding delivery, not one thing they told me was true. Today I was told I'll get this order four weeks from today which puts the total time at about 14 weeks...assuming that I really will get these cases in four weeks...which I have no reason to believe.

I'd sure like to know of some options.

Do I sound frustrated?

I have had decent luck with Cedar Creek, but I'm not saying it won't take a follow up. It won't be fast either. 6 - 8 weeks, I'd say.

...or do I have to make my own cases?

Been getting dragged along by Ameritage myself, they finally got my graphics correct and claim delivery in 3 weeks. I have had to stay on top of it though. Called Cedar creek and was told flat out it would be at least 14 weeks to get a case from them so I just kept banging away at Ameritage since I was already in that for about 8 or 9 weeks by that point. I know I can't make cases half as nice for anything near what I can buy one for from either supplier, so I guess if I'm happy with the first I will have to order some to have in inventory for instruments I am currently building. In the future I will most likely order a case when I start cutting wood up for a guitar.

Has anyone checked out the Hoffee carbon fiber cases? I've heard great things about them. http://carbonfibercases.com/

David, I've gotten one of the Hoffee 2.0 cases. These cases were revised from the initial iteration, which were lighter, but had only 5/8" padding. The new case has the interior volume of the Calton medium jumbo case, and a little extra. It's arched top and back, has the same fabric as Calton and the foam interior is cut in situ as is the Calton for a great fit. The 2.0 also has a neck yolk, beefier padding under the neck, and a top and bottom peg head pad. It weighs a little more than their initial case, weighs less than the Calton, but it is big enough that I can get a fan fret bari into the case with room to spare in the peg head area whereas the same case from Calton barely fit. He's got a smaller new mold for OMs and is revising the remainder of his molds as he can. He's doing a fine job. Since the fabric isn't available except direct from the factory across the pond, his choices of fabric right now are not as broad as Calton, but has black, gold, red, and green and he may have gotten a deep blue. The best part is that he's actually delivering cases.

Jeff Hoffee made a case for the new owner of my Cocobolo wedge from my measurements and it fits like a glove, even the wedge shape is built into the back. They are much lighter than the fiberglass cases and at around $700.00 not over priced for what one gets.

I have one of hte new Hoffee's as well Dave, for one of mine that didnt make it to Montreal ....arghhhh .. but the case is excellent. And like David B. says, he is actually delivering, and in reasonable timeframe too. I also had two of the original mold cases, they were nice, but the new ones are a step up for sure. Good guy to work with, he wants business.
