Anyone know where I could find any directions on building a cantilevered fretboard? maybe a video, pics, etc?

I'm also seeing any info on making a wooden tailpiece, and how batson does their bridge design, particularly how they run the strings through the lower part of the bridge. Do they run the strings through some form of metal tubing? I like their ideas, and would like to try some of those ideas.

thanks

Sean

Hey Coach,
I like those Batsons too. Many cool modern features. The cantilevered FB they do is a bit non traditional as it does not seem to have wood under it. On my two guitars I did elevated FB's in the arch top style, mostly right out of the Benedetto book. In my case of doing this on a flat top, the body is simply reversed, the back is co planar with the strings and the top is on an angle. I think in many ways this is a simpler and more foolproof system. No 14th fret hump ever, neck angle can be reset or messed with (beginner flossing). To me it seems like less parts, less fitting, fewer cuts. Personally I was trying to take off from Howard Klepper and Charles Fox designs.

Can't help with the bridge tailpiece combo, but the tail piece needs to be stiff to keep the strings down.
Rob
