Can someone please tell me how many watts are the ibex bending irons or those like them. I got a chunk of aluminum and am making my own and want a little more pop. Mine won't have any wood and will have a timer built in.

200W is standard. I bumped mine up to 400W with a new heat cartridge. Gets a lot hotter and does that faster.

I followed Howard's advice and changed out the heater (and switch unit) in my bending iron to the 400W part he recommended. It now works very well indeed: before, at 200W, it took 20 minutes or more to heat up to a usable temperature, and never seemed to be quite hot enough.

Cheers,
Dave F.
