I just arrived home this evening from my 1st ASIA Symposium in East Stroudsburg Pa and it was a great experience. I met a few forum members, some great suppliers and a whole lot of builders and repair guys. What a great group of people involved in guitar building. I will be back there in 2 years for sure

Fred

 Fred glad you made it home safe and sound. It was a pleasure to meet you and see and (try to play) your beautiful guitars. It will be hard to adjust to the real world after three days of listening to music and talking guitars. Looking forward to the next symposium already. Best Regards Bill Sterling

Had a blast myself. It was so nice to see so many old friends and to make a few new ones. Fred had some impressive geetars.

I had a great time again this year. It is really nice to be able to see people face to face. I was very glad to meet some people I had not had the chance to meet before and to get to see some others I had met before. The CITES/LACEY talk was interesting, a big thanks to David and Chuck for getting that together and to ASIA for documenting it.

If/when there's a transcript, I hope someone will post a link.

I know the plan is to put out a special issue of Guitarmaker with a transcript of the whole session, but I don't know if it will be available anywhere else.

Great time again! Scott, the workshop that Bill, David and you gave on "The Business Side of Lutherie" was one of the best. I came out of that one with a lot of notes! It was great to meet up with old ASIA friends and make lots of new ones. I look forward to Symposium 2013. [:Y:]

I always come home from the A.S.I.A conference fired up and anxious to get back into the shop. I do most of my building within six months of the symposium.

I wish I would have been able to see more guitars. There didn't seem to be a place to hang out and show off what you'd done. If there was, I didn't find it.

The new LMI binding machine is a mechanical marvel. It's good to see some of these jigs and tool in person before ordering them. Of course some of the wood there was truly astounding.

John Hall's binding demo was great fun. It's good to see when things go very wrong that you can keep you cool and everything will often turn out OK.

I wish the name badges were a little higher up. It was often hard to see them and I found myself talking someone that I knew from OLF without even knowing who there were.

Hi Steven Thanks for posting the picture of my Dreadnought, it was a real pleasure to meet you. I took a real close look at the tops and brace wood I bought from you and they impresses me even more than when I purchased them. I hope our paths will cross again and we will certainly do business in the future.

Fred

I had a great time at ASIA. Other than stopping in for only a couple of hours in 2009, I haven't been to ASIA since 2005. Met a lot of great people and old friends. Would like to have met more forum members than I did. Next time!

Thanks to all wonderful people who I met at the event. I learned a lot in the workshops and was blessed to see friends like John Hall and meet Steve from Colonial tonewoods in person. The guitar I'm building now has a top we got from him and its cool.

Also had fun meeting Fred (I loved your guitar), Bob from RC, Bruce Petros , Evan, and Dave Nichols among many others. Mrs. Nichols said we should stay for the auction and I'm glad we did as it was the funniest and most shocking thing ever. I also won a great guitar wood set at the auction and will be practicing on a few other guitars before I try building with it cause its super nice and my dad said its from a famous luthier.

I also loved eating bacon for breakfast 3 days in a row and wondered why most of the guitar makers eat so much ice cream ?

My dad took some pictures and they are posted here, He is watching me type this stuff so I won't get into trouble.

It is so cool you could be there with your dad. You are a very talented guitar player and it was a joy to watch you play. You're off to a great start!

David, You are the most talented young man I have ever heard play guitar, eek seriously. Fred needs to post a sample of you playing his guitar. Just incredible. I had so much fun watching you play guitar and win the wood at the auction. Welcome to the OLF!!

Joe I would love to post David playing my guitar but there was so much background noise the sound is really bad I need to get an external mic for my Ipod. I think meeting David and his Dad and hearing him play was one of the highlights of the weekend for me.
