Well, I decided not to polish this one out.
Sounds pretty good, not as good as my # 2,
which is made of cheap maple and cheap spruce.
This koa, and the spruce, is pretty nice under varnish.
Being that it isn't polished,
it doesn't slide off of my lap so much.
My mold was off, so it looks pretty bad where the sides get close to the fretboard.
Oh well.
I had a LOT of problems with this build!

That head design is almost what I have been trying to draw for about a year. I prefer to build ukuleles using a zero-fret and would prefer to locate the tuners so that the strings go directly to the tuners, making the string-guide un-necessary (cosmetic). You come pretty close.

Nice work.

Alan: Looks good to me...! The part you say is off is hardly noticeable and if folks ask, say it is a technical innovation...!!! Don't tell on your self...!! Nice job,now on to the next one.... and there is always a next one.

Thanks guys.
The top is Sitka.
The headstock is very plain, but looks good to me with this body shape.
Tom, I've got 3 more goint already.
2 with finish on them,
and 1 is a different design, with a solid squareneck.
I'm going to do a better job on the finishing on those,
because I plan to TRY to sell them.

I think it looks great! Never built one of these, so there's that, but I don't see anything that looks "off". I like the way the sides join the fretboard. I think it looks pretty cool!

Hi Alan ,
The guitar looks nice. The head plate really stands out. The sides being a little off is something only you would notice.
