Must be planted by the Japanese while they ruled this island fifty years ago. Most D. sisso don't grow straight, so it's more or less stressed wood I guess. My daughter is 4'1" tall, btw.

CW - We have that species growing here in Florida. I've not had an opportunity to cut any of it down since I live a little farther north in the state than it likes to grow, but I do have some of it. With regard to your comment on size, they don't get anywhere near that big here in Florida. Turners like it....tree guys hate it. Smells good too. Warm brown color with blonde sapwood.

Chris, thanks for your infomation. Because of its irregular cross-section of trunk, I suppose the yield rate for guitar B&S isn't high, right?

When you refer to an irregular shape I assume your mean not perfectly round. Then I would say that yield depends on your thinking. If the only dimension that will fit a guitar back is 8 x 21 then yes (low yield). If you were to think that a guitar back could be 4 pieces that are 4 to 5 inches wide then the yield goes up. There's other guitar parts to consider too.
