Nice pic David, I like everything about it all the way down to the howling pot licker in the window and the ichthus on the wall. [:Y:]

Cool David, I dig the vintage vibe. Larsonesque and Martinesque at the same time. I am intrigued by the 1st guitar: what size, gut or steel and is it inspired by Romantic guitars? Peghead shape is reminiscent of 19th century French guitars.

Nice shot David! I too like the trio and peghead on the first one. That treehound looks nice in the window as well. Great post! [:Y:]

Nice picture!

I think it would only be appropriate to follow up with dimensioned plans for each one. [:Y:]

Dimensioned plans, hoot!

Thanks guys.
The one in front is a (Martin) size-2, made as a steel string tenor, with a banjo-like head for planet tuners, 23" scale.

GAL is probably out Steve, my regular day job is shot, looking for other work now.
Maybe it's time to be courageous and try to make it full time luthing?

I must have missed that - ?

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

MAN, sorry to hear that David!
The first luthier I met (back in the 70's) was Wade Lowe in Atlanta, GA. He opened up a guitar shop called the "Diapason". He got into that because he had lost his regular job, and didn't really know what else to do! It was a struggle for him financially, but he loved what he did, and somehow payed the bills.
As you know, the field is awfully crowded these days. But you do wonderful work, and should be well able to establish your name and a loyal following.

If that is even in your thoughts, perhaps you should come to Healdsburg.

Steve
