Hello all -- For the last few months I've had the amazing opportunity to work a couple of days a week for Paul Heumiller at Dream Guitars in Weaverville. Not only is Paul just an incredibly nice guy, he also encourages me to play and explore all his incredible instruments. I can't express what an invaluable and humbling learning experience it is for me every time I walk through the door. Truly a smorgasbord of finely-crafted instruments that run the gamut of building styles and techniques, each guitar seemingly more beautiful and tonally rich than the last. It's great to put the work to the names of some of the guys that generously contribute to this forum. I'm constantly reminded of how far I have yet to go with my own work. It's a great reality check.

Yesterday I was taking a break from stringing the sixty-plus classicals Payl recently acquired, to restring a few steel strings. The second one I got to was a Dream Series Tom Doerr jumbo (maybe MJ size), and I was absolutely floored by his attention to detail and the level of refinement of this guitar. It's tone was equally exquisite. My first thought was that he must use CNC extensively due to the precision and tidiness of it all. Then I thought, maybe it is possible to do that kind of work by hand. How is beyond me, but I'm curious if anyone has any insights into this. Paul said Tom's a nice guy and very approachable, so I may just give him a call, if for no other reason, to express my admiration of his work. It's quite amazing that he's only been building for about ten years. Anybody else gotten to see his recent work?

here is a build thread of one of one of Tom Doerr's guitars on the AGF. BTW, have you played that black top Boaz Clarita Negra? How does it sound in person?
