laying around not feeling too well today and thought i would hijack my better halfs ipad and started looking for info on the web , not having much luck so thought i would throw the topic out here. i.e. upper an lower bouts ,waist size, why is a taylor a taylor, a martin a martin etc. effects of cutaways and soundports as it all relates to the helmoltz theroy and othr related and i am sure very subjective stuff.

Okay, Wes,
I'll bite. Taylors are Taylors because they work very well and they don't violate anyone else's patent. Ditto Martins. Ditto Gibsons. Ditto your guitars. Ditto mine. Etc., etc., etc.

In today's litigious age, this is a LOT of what makes all these noted brands what they are: Some design feature (subtle or dramatic) that makes it just different enough to seem unique and avoid someone else's patent).

I think it's pretty much that simple.
