So I finished number 7 and it turned out pretty nice. I love the sound of this one. It is really dark sounding, but very clear balanced. As far as sound, I consider this to be my best so far. You would think that they would get progressively better, but that's not how it has been so far. My first was great sounding, but the rest weren't as good as it until this one. It has a cedar top, from a board I got from Menards. The back, sides, and headstock are Ziricote. The bindings, end graft, heel cap, and fretboard are Wenge. Anyway, I thought I'd post some pics of it. Hope you enjoy. Oh, and there was one pretty big mistake on this one cosmetically, I didn't get the top on perfectly straight.

Very cool! I love stripey cedar like that, and the ziricote is nice as well. The borderless rosette lends a certain softness to it. Refreshing after all the sharp contrast that most of us go for. Definitely a chocolatey looking guitar

I am much intrigued about the saddle as well. I didn't know abalone shells were thick enough to get a saddle blank out of. Seems like it might be a little bright sounding, and yet you say this one's tone is exceptionally dark... I'd love to know the results of a comparison with bone, if you would be so kind as to make another saddle to test

Thanks guys. Dennis, the original plan for this one did have a thin white line on back, sides, and top, but I decided it was just too much on this one. Not sure why, but it just didn't work well for my eye. The abalone wasn't actually thick enough. I cut up a large shell and glued up a stack of three flattened pieces. I don't have any bone in the shop right now, so I won't be able to do a comparison for you for quite a while. I also expected the shell to make it a very bright sounding guitar.

I did one, where the soundhole turned out to be not centered properly....no one notices , unless I tell them.
