My Stew mac pump accelerant is dead. Can I just refill it with Naphtha or is it some other substance?

Doesn't lacquer thinner have toluene in it?
A bit like high school chemistry, but I doubt it would blow up.
Actually it could blow up, right? Test outdoors first.

Doesn't water or saliva also work? My science teacher last year told us a story about how he tried to take a super glue cap off with his teeth, and I think you can infer what happened next.

Water of saliva turns it white. The moisture in your breath will speed it up some if you breath on it.

A small spray bottle of dihydrogen monoxide with a drop of dish washing detergent in it acts as a pretty good CA accelerator....and it's cheap.

Cheers,
Dave F.

Same with baking soda mixed with water. Shake before using.

The most effective accelerant I've found is my fingertip; CA sets instantly every time I touch it by mistake. gaah

I have glued my shoe to the floor twice. Fingers, 3 times to the guitar.
Baking soda and water sounds great. I just Googled and read this other stuff I have been using; Toluidine Is bad Mojo

Yeah, me too...I don't think I've ever used the stuff without gluing myself to something! [headinwall]

It sure is great stuff though. So many applications! [:Y:]

A light dusting with baking soda works well even on uncongenial
surfaces ime, and priming before with denatured alcohol is better still.
Those accelerators smell nasty to me, and I'd rather avoid them as
well as the CA itself if possible.

Saw this several years ago. Hangs above my bench now as a reminder.
