Hello friends.
while searching internet i have seen a store who sells
sandal wood for back and sides of guitar.
is it possible to build a stable guitar with this wood.???
can we build a steel string guitar with this???
how difficult it is to bend??
it is readily available in india and cheaper than rosewood.

It is a threatened species and very expensive wood. THe trees don't grow very large so finding usable wood is hard. The trees are actually owned by the government and harvesting is strictly controlled. If you can get some of usable value, i say go for it. as it is a hard nonporus wood that should be usable for guitar building. It does have an order that stays with it forever though.

I sort of find this hard to believe, as I've been on the hunt for sandal wood for a couple years now with little success.

As Mark mentioned, it's heavily regulated by government due to it's scarcity.

I'd be interested in seeing some pictures and possibly a set or two if it's viable.
