I need buffing wheels for a 1" shaft.......probably 12"-14" would be ideal.

Which ones do you recommend and where do you buy them? I seen STewMac has 14" wheels for a 1" shaft. Are they any good? I'm using the Menzerna medium and fine buffing pastes.

Thanks!

Darryl, I bought the 12" wheels from LMI (for 1" shaft). I found they were the least expensive anywhere online, even from Casewell.

They worked great for me. These are the first buffing wheels I've ever used so I've nothing else to compare them to.

Also, what are you buffing? I take it the KTM-SV? My guess is these wheels will work great for that.

Rod,

Which wheels did you use for which compound?

Called Jeff Silver at Menzerna/Jesscar and her recommended 60/60 cotton for the Menzerna medium compound and bleached, domet flannel for the Menzerna fine compound. Looks like LMI has flannel and domet. Is the flannel similar to 60/60 cotton?

I just bought the domet buffing wheels for both compounds. Again, they worked great for me but again, these are the only buffs I've ever tried :)

I also made my own flanges which I think are essential. I made mine from 1/4" baltic birch plywood, made them 4" diameter with the 1" hole for the buffer shaft.

I have the wheels from stewmac and use them with all 3 levels of menzerna and they work great. That's one setup that I was totally happy with the minute I took it out of the box.
