When I come across a guitar-related picture I like, I download a copy for my own enjoyment later on. Like these rosettes. I downloaded them individually some time back, but I think they are all from the same maker.



Now I want to use the image above as part of the background for the upcoming Association of Stringed Instrument Artisans site redesign. The EXIF data didn't have any copyright information, so I'm hoping someone here will recognize them and point me to their owner.

I remember seeing rosettes like those, but can't remember the maker, either. But I do seem to recall that they are by the maker of classical guitars. Maybe...

Those do look a bit like the rosettes Jack (Bogdonovich) was working on last time I was in his shop. I could forward it to him for confirmation.

As far as I know, Sergei de Jonge was the originator of the spalted wood rosette ... maybe try de Jonge?

I'm pretty sure they aren't Jeff Eliott's. I check his website every so often and the style of his website doesn't match my recollection of the site where I got the photos.

I don't think Mssr. DeJonge ever had photos of plain rosettes on his site, either. He is a fascinating man to talk to and has such an interesting family, I check his website pretty regularly, too.

I googled Jack Bogdonovich and didn't find a website for him, unless he is John Bogdanovich, who wrote "Making a Concert Classical Guitar." I didn't see these rosettes in question on that site, but if Ken could ask him, I'd appreciate it.

Recently John has been making wider rosettes with some wheat type purflings in them. My friend George Thomas and I went by to see him a little over a week ago. He's been really busy with his DVD release, and has not had much time for building, but he did have one on the table and another in the wings. The rosette on one of them was really wide and dark with three lines of wheat or some derivative of it.
