I finished this a couple of months ago but didn't photograph until today. The pics aren't great, but that's my style.

This is an OM made from Tasmanian blackwood with bloodwood trim. The top is adi. Sweet, sweet, sweet little guitar. This is for my 2nd grandson. Schaller tuners, tru-oil finish.

How does that bloodwood bend for bindings?
I'm thinking about using it because it looks great.
I like the way it looks with koa and blackwood.

SteveCourtright: Pretty simple schedule on my tru-oil application.
I seal all with shellac, pore fill with z-poxy, wipe on a coat of oil, two hours later I wipe on another coat. Let dry overnight, hit lightly with 0000 wool, put on the next coat, etc. I keep doing that until it looks good to me. After the last application of oil, I let it cure for a week then rub it out with micromesh from 4000 - 12000. Wipe down with lemon oil and it's done.

Steve K. Not a Christmas present as my grandson is only two years old. I'm getting all these ready and storing them until appropriate. My fear is that I might not be able to build them nice guitars if I wait until they are old enough. I take them out periodically and retighten/retune the strings, play them for a bit, wipe them down with lemon oil and put them away.

Ron, that is a wonderful instrument. Thanks for sharing and I hope I can get my chops that tight someday...

Very nice guitar Ron. Two picky detail type things you can do if you care about such things:

1) Tighten or loosen the nuts on your tuning machines so that they end up all in the same orientation.

2) Replace the saddle so that the next one is not showing gaps between it and the ends of the slot.

Nice Ron, I love the owl, I've seen snowy whites in the wild and they are spiritual. I hope I live long enough to make guitars for my grandkids too.. My own boys are 2 and 5..Great Inspiration Ron, Thank you!!

Ron I really like the look of that Tassi Blackwood! Must be a nice environment for building out there in Arkansas. How difficult was the Bloodwood to bend?
