Does anyone know of an off the shelf, arched-top case being manufactured for an OM sized guitar, that will accomodate an end pin depth of 5 inches?
I have been supplying AccessCases with my builds, but their series lll small acoustic cases will only handle 4.5 inches at the endpin..
many thanks,
jack

The Canadian Elite case sold by Elderly will handle a deeper guitar though you might want to check on the actual depth.

Many thanks Fred, for the reply;
I checked with the good folks at Elderly, the GCE-000 case will take a guitar that is 4 3/4" at the endpin, but not 5".
I'll keep on searching, but I doubt that I'm going to find a suitable 000 sized case... I may have to use a dreadnought case and either live with the fit or have the lining re-sized to fit an OM...
regards,
jack

hi Jack, don't think I'm crazy, but when I get home tonight I'm going to measure the tweed canadian 00 case that I bought at Elderly this spring. I bought it for a 14-fret 00 I was building, but the case doesn't fit a 00, it fits an OM! and, it is deep enough, so that there is very noticeable top-to-back slop in the fit on the OM. maybe it will accomodate as much as 5 inches.

I thought for sure this was a fluke or a labeling mistake, so I took it back to elderly, and all of these cases were this way! I had most of the elderly staff in a quandary about the thing. but they concluded that these cases were made big to accomodate 14-fret 00s, 12-fret 00s, and classicals. it just seems odd to me that the shape fits an OM/000 so well, but none of the 00s very well, and it's supposed to be a 00 case.

http://elderly.com//accessories/items/GCEV-00T.htm

the description says the lower bout is 14.5, but a 15" lower bout fits in the case nicely.

I'll let you know what the depth is, in a bit....

The elite jumbo case might be a better fit in the waist than the dread and it will handle a 5" depth.

Why not just call Cedar Creek and have one made. It doesn't really cost a whole lot more than the Elite case in the link Fred gave you at Elderly. It is more, but then you have a case that fits, perfectly, not one you "make do" with. They are really easy to deal with, and you get to pick the interior and exterior options. If you stay with the standard picks, the price is really pretty reasonable.

the canadian 00 case would be a tight squeeze for a 5" guitar. it's probably also in the neighborhood of 4 3/4" or just a hair less, than that.
