I see that Heritage still advertises they cover shipping, I heard from someone who has their insurance they no longer offers shipping coverage, unless you were covered by them before the change in policy.

Has anyone heard of limited shipping insurance?

Your carrier should offer insurance. I use UPS and so far I have made good on my claims

I have shipping written into my homeowner's policy that covers my shop and contents So far I have not had to make a claim.

Woody, thanks, that may be just what I am looking for.

I have used Fedx UPS and USPS and have never had an issue. It should be known that none of them sell "insurance" though if you ask for insurance at the time of shipping they will sell you something, but it isn't insurance, you are paying them to raise the limits of their liability. That is better than nothing, but it's expensive also.

I'm exploring options that apply specifically to my needs.

I have separate shop insurance. When shipping a guitar I phone up my broker and we work out a temporary coverage. Last time I paid for the insurance, it cost me about $26.00 for a $4,500.00 guitar traveling from the west coast to Toronto.
Your customer should add the new guitar to his policy anyway... & he can easily arrange the travel insurance when he talks to his agent.
This is what I have done the last couple of times.
Both Purolator & Fedex told me that they would not be responsible on a high value item & loss / damage insurance should be purchased by the owner.

I have Heritage and they cover shipping. I just insure with my carrier, FedEx, for the deductible.
