The propolis soap used for ground coating an instrument. Is the stuff that I can buy at my local natural health store suitable for this purpose?

Where did you hear that any soap can be a ground coat?

Propolis figures into some violin grounds. No soap.

Oh, OK. you're talking about the Fulton varnish recipe. His propolis "soap" is not at all the soap you get in a health food store. That's ordinary soap with some popolis resin added. Or were you going to buy propolis at the health food store and follow Fulton's recipe? People report that it doesn't work as easily as Fulton described.

If you are looking for propolis, one source is:
http://www.woodfinishingenterprises.com/varnish.html

I've ordered 'stuff' from them in the past and had good service.

Cheers

Yeah I was looking the recipe for Propolis. Luckily I know a couple of bee keepers from when I worked at the local vegetarian store Nori's. Time to give em a holler.
