Hi all,

Drilled the holes in my padauk bridge and the sixth string didn't exit in line with the others. [headinwall] What's the best way to plug a misplaced hole in a classical bridge tie block? My thinking is it's mostly a cosmetic flaw. Then again I'm nowhere near gluing it on so I've got time to fix/replace it if it's more of concern.

Thanks,
Jake.

How far out of line is it?

I've seen lots of bridges like that from handmakers .
Unless it's WAY off it should be NO problem

I made a jig that I clamp the bridge to & drill 6-12-or 18
holes with .
It's made of soft steel and is adjustable with shims for different
tie block & bridge configirations

Mike

Thanks Mike!

I had a luthier buddy check the bridge and he said the same thing. Sigh of relief. Looking at my pic, it's evident the other holes exit with a bit of variance anyway. The sixth is still the worst tho.

Since drilling I filled the pores and gave the bridge a wash coat of shellac. I'm amazed at how much the colour came out once finish was applied. I knew padauk was red, but this stuff is like tomato sauce!
