I have some water stains on my sides from bending. What is the best way to get them out? They are on black walnut and mahogany.

Try sanding -

Did you use distilled water ? Has less mineral content - so little to no staining.

Yep. Used distilled water. My sandwich was; wet craft paper-aluminum foil-slats. I though I read somewhere that these marks can be taken off with some liquid, but I can't remember what it was.

water stains are common and most sand out easy. Keep the slats clean and don't use clorinated water
