Has anyone built with canarywood? I read one article that said the sound was reaaly great but was prone to cracking. Also hear it has good acoustic properties and is made into high end speaker cabinets. Just curious. Have an opportunity to buy a couple of really nice colorful pieces.

Hi Ken,

Can't opine on the B&S question, but I am using canarywood for bindings on a J-185 style guitar I am building. Have never bent the stuff before, so I will be anxious to see how it goes in a couple of weeks.

I built my second with canarywood. It was a fairly curvy body steel string, following Cumpiano's book. Bent very easily for me - my second attempt and on a pipe. Haven't had the guitar for a while, my brothers have been passing it around. Got a call from the current holder with kudos from a pro friend who liked it better than his Martin. All I really remember is that I liked it better than #1....

The best sounding guitar I've built has Canary wood for the back and sides.
