Roaming around ebay at work :)

Found this and wondered if any of you folks know anything about it. Looks cool.

I was on the fence on that same set about 6 months ago myself and posed the same question here. But the best answer I got was from a fella that I emailed (after a lot of web research) because he had actually bought a set from that same dude. He's a builder and his website is Lonewolf Guitars, or something like that. He was also taken by the looks but asked if he'd purchase more, he said no, not at those prices. It wasn't properly dried and it seemed very prone to cracking. At those prices you may as well pony up and grab the real Dalbergia Retusa BRW, some flashy cocobolo or black cocobolo. In either case you'd be better off.

Hope that helps.

Neil: Think you would be better off dealing with some of the local sponsors or the auction here on the OLF. As nice as some of that stuff looks I would think a lot of it are cracks waiting for a place to happen.

Are you saying WARNING AVOID or AVOID the WARNING?!

Hahaha. I just need to clarify. I haven't heard one good thing about the "Jacaranda" this guy sells. So which is it?

Yes I had a brain fart and realized it after I wrote it, but there is no edit function. I thought it was Nigra though, not Negra. Add it to the long list of aliases I suppose.

In any event I'd call Bob Cefalu before I ordered any of that stuff from Indonesia, although I admit that I am curious.

Maybe we should start a community Indonesian Jacaranda fund and have one of the builders here that are very familiar with BRW do a build out of it and submit a review.

After that we can have a definitive answer. I just can't drop $300 to $400 on a question mark like that. If his wood were cheaper, say $90 I'd give it a shot, but at the current price I can buy a sure winner here and pay far less for shipping.

For the money that guy charges for that questionable wood, you could get a sweet set of ziricote (i like the one in the middle) or some cocobolo. I think Zootman might have some really nice coco sets left as well. Either way, you'd be better off buying from these guys or the others here.
