I'm planning on using something like this on my guitar which is matte finished, hopefully it will have a nice glossy look afterwords. The problem is i don't think that stewmac is able to ship this over the U.S Canada border. What alternative product can be used as a replacement for the swirl remover that i can buy locally?
Heres a link to the swirl remover,it's the 4th one down in the product list:http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Finishing_supplies/Abrasives,_polishes,_buffers/ColorTone_Polishing_Compounds.html?actn=100101&xst=3&xsr=1691

Meguiar's #7 is a good swirl remover, but it isn't going to make a matte finish glossy, but neither is the STEWMAC product

Interesting,in the thread i was reading on another forum the guy used swirl remover and a buffing wheel. You're saying the buffing wheel did the job and the swirl remover did basically nothing?
I guess a buffing wheel should do the trick, rather than potentially ruin the guitar if it needs to be refinished later on.Is there a trick to using a buffing wheel?I wouldn't want to eat through the thin finish.

Buck,

I have a menzerna buffing product that I can ship (cause I am in Canada!)

Hope that helps!

Shane

It's funny, I've had at times in the shop, where a few guitars, polishing out using Meguiar's #7, had actually brought out a better shine polishing by hand rather than putting it to a buffing wheel with using Menzurna polishes. Kinda surprised me that it worked better but it gave the customer what they wanted. Then again, on some pieces, the buffer would do the trick and Meguiar's did nothing for pulling out a shine.

You can get this from Stewmac without problems. I know I got some!

Here is an example of a product that they cannot ship outside the US. It is clearly stated. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Finishing_s ... Stain.html
