Well, went to my local lowes to buy some white pine for the top of an experiment guitar. I found this piece and bought it because of it's amazing tap tone. My only concern is if the grain is too wide. It doesn't need to look good at all because I am going to stain it a chocolate color. I will show a picture as soon as I figure it how to do it with this new mac.

It has a long deep bass response. The wood rings
for ever and sounds pretty great.

Quartersawn-ness and runout are more important than width of grain. I like the look of wider grain in some cases, but it's not for everyone.
