For those who do this type of joint on a regular basis it's worth making marking out templates for both the male and female parts. A real time saver. There are quite a few variations on the V joint. The one shown in Robbie's video is known as the through V. Sorry to be pedantic but the joint hails back to at least the 17th century.

Thanks everyone. There are several variations and themes on the v joint. As Michael said the one I show is known as the through V. There is also one known as the covered V.
David Schramm has some videos on Youtube about it.

Why Portuguese?

Portuguese is for my Brazilian friends. The Spanish speaking world can understand enough of it to understand what is being said as well.
Also, you get a more correct translation from Portuguese to other romance languages than you do from English when using the translation option form Youtube.
I figure that pretty much covers most of the bases.

Evan, I use the V joint on both six and twelve strings (with very heavy strings) and it works very well. I do it with a bandsaw and disc sander, and if the jigs are carefully made, it works like a charm.

That's a nice video from Robbie O'Brien, and certainly pulling this off is quite a skill. However, I'm a little underwhelmed by the joint itself. I guess it's traditional on some classicals. But if I don't want a volute, I'd just do a scarf joint for simplicity and superior strength. If I'm going to the trouble of a fitted V-type joint, I'd go for a bird's beak joint: very strong and beautiful and with a functional volute. I love a volute, and more so if it's not just decorative as on a one piece neck. John Greven gives a great demo of how to make this joint on his webpage (click extras, then "bird's beak demo").
