hey, hi. anybody know where i can get a aaa spruce top for a weissenborn?
been looking for months, and can't find one.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

I'd recommend both High Mountain Tonewoods and Alaska Specialty Woods... they've both served me very well in the past for spruce and cedar Weissenborn tops.

thanks guys. i must be blind. i went to high mt and didn't see that they had some.
alaska has a nice top for $100 bucks, ouch. i paid $30 for one quite similar, oh well.

30 bucks for a triple A Weiss top is an incredible deal! Most AAA standard guitar tops are more than that.
