Hi all,

A customer has asked me to put a pickup in a classical guitar I have already delivered to him. I'm partial to film-type or similar soundboard transducers, although my experience has always been with regard to steel string guitars. I know that the K+K Pure Classic has gotten many positive comments here, but I was wondering if there are any updates or other opinions. On my own steel string guitars, I have always used David Enke's Pick-up-the-World pickups and have always liked them, but they get no word of mouth here at all.

In what environment will he play pluuged in an amp? Live on stage? If so will he be alone or with a band?

These are important things to consider before deciding what technonogy to use (piezo, soundboard transducer, tec.).

He would probably be using it alone. I'm not really sure why he wants it in the first place - I'm waiting to get some more info back on that.

Personally, I've never heard a piezo pickup that I liked, but that could stem from lack of recent experience with them. (I'm assuming this refers mainly to under-saddle pickups?)

Yep.

If he intends to play alone, then yes, a soundboard transducer will be the best thing. I've heard good things about K&K as well as B-Band for myself. Although there is nothing like a good condenser microphone to record in studio.

A piezo sure sounds quacky, they're renound for that. But if he would be playing live on stage with a band (drums and bass included), than a undersaddle transducer is pretty much the only feedback-free solution.

I install K&Ks, over half come from nylon string players' word of mouth. Passive, no preamp/battery, sound great.
