Hey all,

I've finished my third guitar. Still sorting out the setup, (I'm getting good at making nuts and saddles), but it's coming along well. Specs are as follows:

OOO sized
Black walnut back and sides, curly maple binding
Black/white fibre purfling
Englemann spruce tops
Sitka scalloped braces in X configuration, rosewood bridge plate
24.9" 5 pices bolt on neck from Hanelei Moon
Black pearl postion markers on the fingerboard
Black chrome Gotoh 510 tuning machines
Beautiful finish with amber burst by Joe White

Here are a few pics, we had to color correct the burst because the camera wants it to be red, but it's at least close.

Fred, so far it sounds terrific. It's been strung for about 3 days now, loads of sustain and very 'chimey'. It'll be interesting to see what happens to it as it opens up.

Chris.

Very nice Chris!!! Hope she sounds as good as she looks. Beautiful flame maple and the neck maple is very similar to the body maple.......did you send the maple to Hannalei to make the neck?

Darryl, I just bought curly maple binding from LMI for the body and the sides of the fingerboard. The maple in the neck lamination was picked by Chris at Hanelei Moon. The heel cap and the end graft are made out of yet another curly maple from LMI. Lucky for me, they all match pretty well under finish.

Chris.

Chris, this is a beautiful guitar. I love maple against the walnut, especially on the neck. I love the side markers on the fretboard. I am particularly interested in the walnut Englemann sound. I want to do one myself. Great job. Congrats......... [clap] [clap] [clap]

That is one great looking guitar. Very nice!!!
That Joe does a great job on the finish too. One of these days I need to have him do one for me.

Thanks guys,

I highly recommend working with walnut. It's a dream. The englemann looks and sounds terrific, but beware, it's very, very soft and easy to damage during the build process.

Chris.

Nice job, Chris. I like all of your choices and the headstock shape is very cool.
