I started a new OLF MJ recently and have some ugly sap wood on the side pieces I'd like to get rid of. Now building a Manzer wedge entails cutting off a strip along the edge, that may be just what the doctor ordered.
When you do a wedge do you:

A) Split the difference and add as much on the bottom side piece as you take off the top side piece, thus keeping the same overall body volume.
B) Just take a strip off the front of the side pieces.
C) Take the strip off of the back of the side pieces?

I'm thinkin' that a wedge on a big body might work out really comfy.......... Mikey

I have done a small Jumbo and removed 1" from the Bass side, and a OM wedge with .5 in removed from the bass and same amount added to the treble. The wedge happens on the back and it is a little more complicated than removing a strip, the back is angled in my case with the pivot point at the end and neck block. I can tell you the J wedge came out real good and sounds great and is quite comfortable to play. I can not yet comment on the OM as it is waiting for the lacquer to cure before rub out and final assembly. Do a forum search for wedge guitar there is quite a bit of info available.

Why remove the sap wood I have seen lots of guitars with sap wood and they looked great.

Fred

I use method A.

FWIW, It is also a good courtesy to get Linda's permission and give ger credit. She is very willing to share.
