Hi,

John Watkins at CNC Guitar Parts used to sell a set of 26 (?) different radii fret press inserts. I understand he is no longer in the small luthier supply business. Do any of you know of another source for a set like this? I quite like the range of radii he had with this set and his price was quite reasonable too.

Thanks!
Rick

I would still contact John. Last time I talked with him about these (about 1 year ago) he had many sets in stock...

Hi Keith and Rod,

I saw the inserts on John's site but thought to email first (a couple of weeks ago). I called as well and left a message but haven't heard from him and wondered if maybe he wasn't in business anymore.
I'll try the site route.

It's not looking like the CNC Guitar Parts shopping cart is working. Part way through the purchase the process hangs up. I'll continue to try to get in touch with John but as a backup does anyone have an alternate source they can offer up?

TX!

Rick, I don't recall ever hearing of anyone else offering such an extensive set of fret press inserts. Stew Mac of course has a few different ones but if you're doing compound radius fret boards (I assume you are if asking for John's) then I don't know of anywhere else you may find them.

Hesh brought this thread to my attention so I though it best that I just chime in here. Rick, I'm sorry, but I did not get your email, and I just got your voice mail from yesterday this morning. The web site does not accept orders from Canada. I don't know why. I did put a message to that affect on the log in page, but I guess it isn't prominant enough, as I don't believe it has ever stopped anyone from attempting to place an order. Sorry for the hassle. Your attempts to complete the checkout process did produce payments and I have refunded them.

As for the web site and retail business in general, we have decided to focus on our OEM and wholesale business, and I have simply not had time to close the online store and produce a new web site in it's place. The retail side does not generate enough business to pay for itself and we are up to our ears in other stuff.

Fret presses - I have a few sets of presses and cauls left. Anyone who would like a set can send me $100 via paypal (john at cncguitarparts dot com) and I will ship a set out to your verified Paypal address. Please don't ask me to mix and match anything or remind me that they were a different price at some other time. This is below my cost and well below what hundreds of other people have paid for them over the years.

I won't check back on this thread, so please email me with any questions.

Thanks,

John
