Anyone have any photos of bracing on old ladder braced parlors. I feel that oak parlor coming on...

John How has been making some Stella ladder-braced reproductions that have gotten rave reviews. Check out his site http://johnhowguitars.com/ I'm not sure about the oak thing, however.

Here's a couple of pics that Todd Cambio of Fraulini guitars sent me sometime back.

This is an old Stella, note the frugal splice of the tailblock. :D

And this one is from the Chicago area builders like Regal etc.

As you can see they're more than a bit on the rough side and most importantly, really rely upon top thickness/stiffness to avoid the potato chip bellying and dipping that many of them succumbed to.

I got re-excited when I heard Carl Bludtz (daddystovepipe) do his version (not correct, but a good arrangement) of "Needed Time".

I have a nice early '30's Stella Oscar Schmidt Concert guitar, if anybody in the NJ/Philly area is interested in seeing/measuring/etc. I also have a great 1920's Joseph Nettuno Grand Concert ladder braced guitar that is simply phenomenal.
