See
me make vice.
maple
threaded maple dowel
the bottom is dovetailed to the front jaw.

Here it is with its bottom attachment and you can see the padauk swivel post that locks from the leverage action of the little cam lever at the top end.

Image

No Tommy bar, but a pear or water drop shaped wheel with a heart carved into her. The shape just fits me thumb for tightening and my forefinger for loosening while allowing for a good hand grip.

Still be cheaper to buy them but not near as much fun.

peace and carrots,

Duh
Padma

Sweet!
I like the rule laid out on the bench.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Those are fantastic, Padma. Seems to me they are a lot healthier than most people's vises too!
