OK - maybe a question that comes under the heading of "what's he worried about?" -

I finally got around to stickering a bunch of tops that I've purchased, and cut a bunch of uniform poplar dividers - and then had one of those moments "wait, what if this species of wood imparts a particular stain on everything it touches???"

So.. someone tell me that poplar is fine as stickering wood (or not). Thanks!

I used some fir strips (moldings from the lumber yard) once that transferred resin, or sap, or natural turpentine. Maybe the stripes will disappear under finish. Poplar being not as resinous seems better.

Poplar is good for stickering provideing it's dry and kept inside. It can hold alot of moisture which can cause mold if allowed to get wet. It's not bad for staining though. I use it alot with no problems.
