I would like to cut out some plexiglass templates. The plexiglass is about 1/4". Will this cause problems with the blade? Should I change to an old blade that I keep as a spare?

Thanks
Richard

I use polycarbonates for jig material and the band saw and router don't appears to have issues with cuttting. There are some many plexiglas products I can't venture to answer your question and can only offer the following wed site.

Yeper plexiglass is brittel and will often fracture when cut or machined. Polycarbonates like Lexan are better suited for cut and machined parts.

I recommend a bi-metal blade for cutting plexiglass. A 1/4" - 10 - 14 tooth variable blade works fine.

nah, switch to your new blade. old dull blades generate too much heat -always your enemy when cutting plastic. select a blade pitch that places at least 2 teeth into the cut (material thickness), blow some air on it and cut away.
