I ordered some iveriod binding from LMI, and when I opened it up, it looks to me that it is yellow instead of the Ivory color that shows in the picture on their web site. Anyone else notice this or is this what iveroid binding should look like? It's definitely not the look I was hoping for. And yes I did pay the $22.50 for hazardous materials [headinwall]

Thanks,

Tim

All that I have seen is somewhat yellow and has a grain to it. This goes through the material so it doesn't sand off. If you don't think it's hazardous cut off a piece and light it. I would suggest you do this outside.

I was heating a fingerboard with a silicon blanket to remove it to try and straighten the neck on an old Aria and what looked like pearl inlay flash burned. It was illuminating. That's code for a big mistake.

Todd, do you know if the iveroid from Martin is yellow like the picture below or is it more like an Ivory color? I guess what I am asking is, are all iveroids the same? I don't want to order more if it's the same thing I have now. The picture is not the greatest but the background is bright white to show the yellow I am talking about.

I think ivoroid was designed to be a substitute/ replacement/fake for real ivory, which is not pure white and has an even darker grain . if you want bright/pure white I think you will need to go with plastic.they make white fiber bindings, I am not sure of the finished texture of the white . Jody

Ivoroid is supposed to be the color of aged ivory. Which it is. I have some real ivory that matches well with ivoroid binding color wise. Colors sometimes do not display as they are on line and on the computer.

Thanks everyone, I don't want the bright white, I will probably go with the Martin. If it's what they use on thier guitars, thats the look and color I am wanting.

Thanks again,

Tim

I had the same problem when I was searching for ivroid binding for an electric build...Check the stuff at Grizzly. Its quite a bit whiter, but not WHITE. It is also grained...I'm not sure if they sell material for end grafts though. I would take a picture of the stuff I have, but I can't seem to find a camera. The photo on their website isn't the best but it is much lighter than the stuff you have pictured here. Hope this helps.
