Would the 1/4" downcut end mill from LMI be a good choice for binding? I am going to be using a setup with an adjustable bearing so I need something 1/4". Also, what would you say is the most versatile size of inlay bit?

I use a 1/4" downcut spiral carbide router bit. Works great and leave a very clean surface.

I've used a 1/4" downcut bit for binding channels and it worked great. Check out Routerbits.com which is about $11 less than LMI.

For inlay work, I use 1/32", 1/16" and 1/8" bits. I've just used upcut bits on the 1/32" as I feel there is little advantage of having downcut for such a small bit. The others I use downcut to make the edge cleaner.

i would also recommend http://www.mlcswoodworking.com. free shipping on all of their bits all of the time. ive ordered several and they seem to be good bits. 1/4" spiral downcut for binding works well. i cant comment on inlay as i havent done any.

Those all look like good sources guys and I will tab them for later use, but I need to get stuff from LMI so its easiest just to get it all shipped from the same place. My main question was just if that 1/4" "end mill" bit is the same as the regular 1/4" downcuts people use for binding. Is end mill essentially another word for router bit?
