I'm searching for hardwood (Bloodwood, ebony, Rosewood, etc...) for a laminated bass neck. How can I get those? I need about 34" long, that's what make this wood hard to find.

Most all hardwood dealer will carr the woods you mentioned. googel hardwood sales and tonewood sales and i am sure you will find what you need. Also check with Woodcraft and other woodworking supply sites.

Most of the chain stores like Woodcraft will be on the expensive side. Look for a lumberyard that does hardwoods. I found a good one around that I picked up some wood for basses, Walnut, HOG, Maple, Bloodwood, Padauk. Also some African Blackwood, Ziricote and Coco for fingerboards, head plates and bridge blanks. I got some really nice wood and with a little sawing got a great deal on blanks. If you spend sime time looking, you can find a few good gems, but even at a good lumber yard you have to sift through a lot to find them.

Also look at Gilmer. They usually have some wood for electric bass necks and stringers.

Depending on how thick you want the stripes, you could ask tonewood dealers for orphan sides.

I'm lucky to have a hardwood dealer nearby who has all sorts of exotic woods. I go down every month or so to see what's available in their "scrap" bin. Got lucky and picked up a couple of blocks of sapele for about $7 each - each should yield a good 5 guitars worth of neck and tail blocks. I bought some ebony from them for neck lamination. Realllly expensive, but at the thicknesses I'm ripping off the plank, it should be good for 10 necks. So...

This isn't helping you a bit - I'd check out all the specialty lumber places in your area. Best case is if they aren't marketing to luthiers - you'll have to pick through a lot of boards to get the grain you want, but much less expensive, and fun to go treasure hunting.

Good luck.
