I've never used glass to carve a neck, but I've carved a couple sets of Violin plates with an old broken Coke bottle. It's a bottle my Great Grandfather used making a bunch of Violins, Cellos ect.

I see you are using the Cumpiano neck joint. Just my $0.02 I think it is a great system. Do you cover up the bolt heads or let them show?
