What source do ya'll use for adi brace stock? I have to put an order in with LMI so should I just get some from them, or is there a cheaper/better source? I know of adirondackspruce.com and John Mayes says they are good on his video, but shipping is costly to Canada so if its all the same I would rather just use LMI.

Also one more quick question if I may; Do you guys split all your bracing or once you have established the grain orientation on a billet do you just rip the billet on the bandsaw?

Thanks a bunch

Why order from the US when a lot of the better red spruce comes from Canada? I don't have the name of the vendor in Sherbrooke with me but I'm sure that Michael Greenfield or Mario Beauregard would be able to help.

I bought a large amount from Colonial Tonewoods a month or so ago, best looking brace wood I've seen, and cut into nice billets that stack nicely for storage.

I have found that sawn bracing stock very often has a high degree of run-out. For that reason I prefer to use split bracing billits.Prefer to use spruce for the back braces but have no bias against any particular species.

The vendor in Quebec is Richard Boucher (yeah, his brothers make the Boucher guitars). he also sells thru Exotic Woods in Burlington Ontario. Thats where I get most of mine.

Mr. grumpy, I tried to PM you but it says you have it disabled. I appreciate the offer, you must be from the great white north as well? I need about 3-4 guitars worth.

Sorry Ed, I assumed you'd know who I were.... I don't do PMs. 3-4 guitar's worth is easy enough to do for shipping costs, or drop-in and grab an armful, as I am in Ontario(Northern Ontario, though...). Contact info as per Shane's post....
