I will need to decide on which truss rod to use soon, I am following Cumpiano's build for a steel string type OM - he makes his truss rod - what can I buy off the shelf to replace it?

I was looking at the STMAC Hot Rod 0986 14-1/4" overall length, the fitting instructions are non too clear to me.

I use Martin double action truss rods. They're not the same as the "Martin Style" you see advertised. They work great, don't rattle and are easy to install. You can get one from John Hall.........OLF sponsor Bluescreek. There's some around here using the Stew Mac rods but I don't have any experience with them.

Go to Allied Lutherie. The rod they have is designed by Mark Blanchard. It is a definite improvement of most other rods.

I also like the Martin 2 way but have not tried the others, I feel a company the size of Martin has done the testing necessary to have a dependable product.

I am ordering a heating blanket form John so I'll add the Martin Double Action on to the order.

Many thanks for your advice

I'm pretty sure the Martin truss rod isn't listed on his web site. You'll have to call or email to get one.

That's it. The old rod was the only one listed the last time I looked.
