I'm looking for plans similar to Martin HD-38VS, D-18VS, or larrivee SD-50. Basically any plan that is a sloped shoulder 12-fret slot head dreadnought. I have already read that some on this forum don't think you need a plan since you can extend a regular 14 fret dread to the 12th fret, but this is my first scratch build and I think i will definitely need a full scale plan of this. Do you where I can find these plans?

Thanks

Well....could I get like a Gibson J45 plan and use the body from that. I also have the plans for a 000 12 fret slot head. The question is, could I use the neck from the 000 stewmac plans and the rest from the J45 plans?

You can as long as you adjust the bracing and sound hole to the scale of the neck you are using

that sounds difficult eek

John, I know you have the kit and the mold, but do you have the brace patter for the 12 fret dread?

If so, couldn't I use the neck from the stewmac 000 slot head plans?

Honestly, I'd just use the 000 plan layed out on the J45 body. That will work just fine.

the SD larrivee bracing is nothing like that which is in a Martin, save for it has an X and some fingers .. one of my students has one, and we used that for the bracing in his copy .. its also in my twin neck travel guitar (25.4 and baritone). It works great BTW.

So, I cut the shape of the j45 top/back/sides, then I just lay the bracing and sound hole patern on top of j45 top and trace everything to it? And i use the neck on the 000plans?

I can probably do that!

Well, don't cut the shape yet, just draw the shape with pencil (etc...) but after that, match the neck joint and centerlines and then draw the locations of the soundhole and braces, you can even draw the 000 shape in a different color just to see the difference of the body shape and size. When you're done drawing it all out, take a picture and post it to see if anyone sees anything that sticks out as 'off'.

I acctually don't have the neck made yet. I just don't know of any other plans besides the 000 stewmac that has the slot head and the shorter length.
