I recently acquired a Jet 16/32 and was searching around the web looking for tips and such.

I like the idea of the nylon lock nuts on the arm adjustment knob. That seems a little sloppy to me.

I'm not sure how well the metal ruler/light bulb trick will work. It seems like the conveyor might compromise the accuracy of that unless you had a way to put a consistent amount of pressure down on the ruler while you were measuring.

Rick Davis gave me another tip to put a flat washer sandwich around the star washers on the bolts that lock the arm angle down. Mine didn't have the star washers, but apparently some models come with them, and they will eventually gouge the body and might result in some alignment issues.

Anyone else have any tips they'd like to share?

A while back we were discussing this. I posted a review I had found that offered some insight into belt tracking issues. The upshot of it is that his feed belt wouldn't track correctly, it kept moving to one side. It was pointed out to him by a friend who is a machinist, someone who is used to seeing minute differences, that the way the unit was bolt to the base had racked it just a very small amount. The owner couldn't see it at first, it was that small, but enough to cause his problems. After they fixed the base and remounted the unit, the tracking problem went away.
