Hi guys,

this is just a "feeler" thread, not an official proposal.
I'm teaching Marketing at on the University level, specifically, I'm teaching Consumer Behaviour (3rd and 4th year business students with a major in Marketing). Part of the course requirement is a term paper - usually a Marketing plan for a business, including some samples for promotional material (flyers, print ads,...)

For the upcoming winter term (January-April 2010 - it's already to late for the fall term), I had the idea of asking various "real" small businesses if they were interested in working with my students together on a Marketing plan for their business. I think it would be awesome for the students as a learning experience, and great for a small business as they would get a marketing plan for their business for free.

It also requires a serious time commitment on both sides to work together, be responsive to emails, chat on the phone, whatever, so the students really know something about the industry and the particular needs of the business.

I was just wondering if there's interest on the side of the semi-pro's or pro's here to collaborate with some students. I would only take one guitar builder, so there's a variety of industries for my students to choose from. My main concern is an awesome learning experience for my students, so think of your time commitment.

I only want to get a general sense about this idea here, and whether you could envision doing that. I won't take applications at this time :D If I find enough businesses from various industries to cooperate with some of my students I'll open another thread in a few weeks or months.

cheers, Christian

I can help as well. I have sold a good number of guitars in this kind of market for the last 15 years.

Awesome, thanks a lot to all three of you [clap]

I already have a local wellness center that's interested as well, so hopefully I'll really have a nice variety of businesses soon.

I'll post again in a couple of weeks once I know more.

thanks again, Christian

I might be interested as well, but for my canoe building, not the guitar building. Let me know more.
