After nearly two years (a significant percentage of which was waiting to save enough money to get the next item), I am playing my first guitar. I won't post a picture, it's a less-than-breathtaking dread of EIR and red spruce with bloodwood bindings, and riddled with flaws. The rosette is messed up, the saddle is too high, the G string buzzes a bit, and most everything below the 14th fret is deadened. But low on the neck, it sustains into next week, with beautiful bass tones and clear treble. I was floored - it actually looks and sounds just like a real guitar!

I want to thank the proprietors, sponsors, and subscribers of OLF for your help in making my dream come to fruition. You people are kind, generous, and friendly. I can't tell you how many times I used the search function here, but I can say I almost always found an answer. The few times I did need to get over the newbie fear and post a question, the responses were quick, complete, and sincere.

It feels great, and I raise my glass to OLF!

Hey congrats Curtis!

Nothing is better than stringing one up!
You should put some picks up! Everyone has a "first guitar"
You should be proud regardless of how it turned out. Its quite an acomplishment!

You could do more work on saddle and frets and make it better. Typically, I have to refine the action after it's put together. Take the strings off and take some time and I bet you'll improve things... and post a photo, we always like looking at new guitars...
