I finally got my friend, Johnnie May, to do a recording of my second guitar. Johnnie kept it for a few weeks, and played it in a Master Class for Bruce Holzman, down at East Carolina University a couple of weekends ago. He said everyone who played it, really liked it, including Holzman. I hope he wasn't just blowing smoke. Anyway, he did the recording on a Zoom H4, sitting at a card table in his apartment, with me sitting there watching. He did two takes. This was the second and the best of the two. I normalized it to about 90% to get the volume where it should be. Johnnie wanted me to add a bit of reverb, but I left it flat, for evaluation purposes.

"El Testamento de Amelia" by Miguel Llobet

And in case you don't remember, this is #2.

Sounds pretty sweet man. Looks great too. I've yet to tackle a nylon. Amazing workmanship!

Sounds great Waddy! Nice hearing someone else play a guitar you built, just sitting opposite from it gives you a whole different take than when you play it yourself.

Thanks guys!

Joe, if I had played it myself, it would surely not sound as good as when someone else does. I'm not much of a solo player, since I spend all my time playing in an ensemble. I'm a one liner. NOT very impressive.

Sounds lovely Waddy!

Though I'm not surprised having heard the guitar last month at ASIA.

This one is a beauty............................on to #3??

Thanks, David. it's opened up a good bit since then, as it's been played a lot.

I'm hoping #3 won't be far off. I closed the box last weekend. On to binding and finishing up.

Waddy,

I didn't like the rosette on #1 that much (I think I recall voting against the segmented pattern vs a continuous repetition of the pattern, when you first asked here), but on #2 it has gained a lot of warmth, depth and coherence. I really like it now.

Thanks, Jim. I like #2 better too. I added the Bloodwood separators, and I think it gave it a little more character. Also, the darker wood made some difference. Either way, it, now, is my rosette for the future. #3 will be the same, but with Bubinga instead of EIR.

Sounds like she's opened up a lot since ASIA. It could also be that my playing stinks, and that guy is good! Anyway, great job.

Without a doubt, Matt. It's had a lot of playing over the last month. Makes a big difference.
