Does anyone have access to one of these 8-string ukulele for which they could give me accurate string spacing? I'm building an 8-string uke for a friend and he mentioned liking the string spacing on these ukes. Neither he nor I have easy access to one or the other.

Thanks!

Joe

Joe,

If it were me I would contact Joe Souza directly by phone or email and just ask what his specifications are. I have had limited contact with Joe but he seems like a nice guy. Of course the spacing is going to change with the width of the nut. It could be he likes the spacing between the pairs of strings. That should remain constant regardless of the nut width.

I have received information from Kamaka too.
You might have some decent luck contacting them directly.

Thanks, we tried that first. No response as of yet. I thought perhaps someone reading this forum would own one. My friend is an Hawaiian musician of some note and has played with Kamaka in Hawai`i, but no luck thus far. I'm at a point I'd like to shape the neck and I can't without string spacing. Alas I'll patiently wait as I'm sure they will ultimately share the spacing.

Mahalo,

Joe

You could ask at Hana Lima Ia. They have a bulletin board over there and I'm sure someone would know.

Good luck and post back what you find out.
